No US coinage 1965-1967 have mintmarks. In the infinite wisdom of the powers-that-be at that time, coin collectors were blamed for the coin shortage. The removal of mintmarks was supposed to keep collectors from hoarding coins.

Eva Adams was one of the powers that be, she was a very interesting person, probably had in her possession a 1964 Peace dollar.

Some more trivia on 1965's pennies

but if 1965 pennies had mintmarks the US mint
made the following at each mint

    P - 301,470,000
    D - 973,364,900
    S - 220,030,000

I've always wondered if there was a way to tell what mint these "unmarked" coins came from. Surely there is a known sample specimen that could be compared to see unique die features.
