Since everyone awaits the new quarters I was wondering what everyone thinks. Will the new series be as popular and as eagerly collected as the Statehood series or has the mint flooded so many quarters onto the scene as to cause a lack of entrest in modern quarters? Have the quarters reverse been changed to often? I will continue to collect personally but wonder if the quarter series has started a trend of constantly changing our coins and expanding our collections to keep up with modern coins.
i won't collect them. i have a couple of friends who did the states ones, but say they won't do the parks ones.
yea I enjoyed some of the State quarters but the art work seemed to go lacking as the series rolled on. I hope the new series will have some nice art work on them.
I am awaiting mine from the mint, I did not do the states, oh I have a few rolls but I want to collect a mint wrapper set of parks, I am subscribed for a roll each....my main interest is always going to be my pennies....
I don't think I will collect them. Just come up with a new design for the quarter and use that for a while. With the state quarter and the national park quarters by the time they are both done it will have been almost 20 years until we get a new quarter design that doesn't continually change. And that is if the mint doesn't come up with another idea for it.
I doubt I bother to collect the NP quarters ,then again might be wise to hoard some rolls? As for state quaters, way too many minted.
I'm burned out on the idea, but since I have every washington quarter now, I'll continue to collect them from circulation/trading.
I won't be collecting the Parks series. Personally, I think the quarter is too darned small to do any of our National Parks justice. Take a look at Halfdome in Yosemite on the 2005 CA SQ. What do you think the Everglades will look like on a quarter? They'll probably have an alligator, an airboat and an image of Osceola on it. They might want to add a python since they are now flourishing in the Everglades and killing off the native species. I think they should have used the half dollar for the series. The Kennedy half is now 47 years old. They could have created a wonderful new obverse design featuring Teddy R. The Kennedy hasn't been released into general circulation since 2000 because nobody wants to use it. I think all that could have changed if they scrapped Kennedy. Chris
The only good thing I have to say about them is that if the Fed keeps to what they said earlier and won't permit banks to specal order boxes of the new quarters like they did for the state quarters, it may make collecting them from circulation a bit more of a challenge.
I was under the impression that the series has the option of going once more through the parks with a second choice for each state.
It does. In the eighth year of the program the Sec of the Treas has the option to decide whether or not to extend the program for a second round of 56 designs. Another 11 years.
I love to read the "I wont collect these" responses. This is just what we need to hear. 4-5 years from now, all of these folks will see that they missed the boat and will back collect the first couple of years. Hopefully, we'll see a nice price jump and some profit taking in 2013.
I agree with you cpm9ball the quarter is very small to do much detailed art work involving landscape and national parks. I love the Kennedy half dollars tho and will hate to see them go if they do so in the near future. I may only purchase the silver proof sets for the new design of quarters, it will depend on the mintage numbers i guess.
Right! I've got SQ Business Strikes that I submitted and are graded MS68, and the pops are in the teens or less for most of them. What do you think these should be worth? When it comes time to buy, everybody thinks they're a dealer and will offer you 20% back of Bid. Chris
IMO the Pres Dollars will have a much bigger bump at the end than parks or states. I'm looking forward to the Tall Grass Prairie quarter but is anyone else?
I'm just going to collect them via the uncirculated sets from the mint. I'm more interesting in the 5oz silver coins. Too bad I think those are goint to get a little pricey.
My Mint subscription for the P&D Roll Sets, and the Clad and Silver Proofs are already confirmed. I already have my albums as well. I will be collecting the PDSS issues for the full series in albums, and will stock away the mint wrapped rolls for the future. I will consider the large silver 3” coins as my cash allows at the time of sale. I have a feeling that the first few releases are likely to be low mintages and be difficult to find as the series progresses. Most people seem to not be showing much interest for a variety of reasons. But to me, I really like what I have seen so far. Would these have been better off on the half? Probably. But that didn't happen. So I'll collect the ATB quarters. By the way, IMHO I do not think we will ever see the eagle reverse on the Wash Quarter ever again. By the time the ATB series ends, the eagle reverse will be over 20 years old, and I do not see the mint going back to a 20 year old design.
