well it depends on the coin.there are diff grading services for the coin itself.if you have a picture it would be easier to point you in the right direction

The top two would be PCGS or NGC. If the coin is a 1882-P imo it wouldn't be worth submitting unless it was an MS65 or higher, because the grading and shipping fees for a single coin would probably cost you around $50.

Also you have to be a member of PCGS to submit coins directly to them. For NGC, you have to be either a member with them, or a member of the ANA.

They seem to be a quality, upcoming service.....and their holders are neat. Not that one should pick a service for its' holder....:)

PCGS and NGC are the two most respected TPGs out there and they are afford the greatest degree of liquidity for your coin. However, unless the coin grades MS65 or higher the grading fees and postage will gobble up a significant percentage of the coin's value.

Can you post a picture of the coin? It might not be worth slabbing at all.

A general rule of thumb is that if it's value is less then below $200, it's not worth slabing. Other's have a higher threshold, $300+. Which makes sense given all the fees it takes to grade.

Hunter. #1 the picture is too small. #2 it only shows half the coin. #3 It's probably not worth grading unless its the O/S in which case see #2

it looks like it would not be worth grading.

But, it is a small picture.

It looks like you have it in an air-tite holder and if so i would leave it there and not spend the money to have this coin graded because its not really worth it.

Edit- But its still is a nice coin just no added value given by the slab IMO

That is a nice coin. Does the breast of the eagle have some wear as it appears in the photo? I can't see that the feathers are defined there.
