Here is my nice but small milled collection, lets know what you think! James II (I think), William and Mary and George III. I hope you like. As requested here is my Victorian maundy set (1882)
Those are some good looking pieces. Great Maundy penny of George III, did you buy all of these recently ?
A family friend give them to me I have a Victorian maundy set to. Apparently he bought them in the 70's 'for little of nothing'.
I'd love to see your victorian maundy set if you ever get around taking a picture of it. I would like a set but if I do I want to box too .. here is the only Maundy coin I have. It's the 1895 Groat
I like the colours on that coin, its a lovely coin. I shall upload a picture of my Victorian maundy set to.
That's a really nice 1882 set you have Frank... Are you going to tell me someone gave you these too Does that toning look more colorful when you have it in front of you ? Also did you ever , or do you still have the 1882 box ?
It come with a leather wallet and they were rapped in paper, I was also given these. I have the person that was given them in 1882 name. They have a beautiful colour.
Very nice, I have to say I'm starting to appreciate milled coins a lot more than I did. I'm after buying a milled Elizabeth I sixpence.
Nice coins Frank. The first grouping that you show...the milled coins, I especially like. What kind of camera are you using to photograph these pieces?
My camera is a 'Pentax Optio M60' Its more for landscapes and scenery than detailed pictures like coins, sorry for the bad photos.
No, not at all. They really are quite good but you may want to consider picking up a camera that will allow you take better "close ups". Something with "macro" capability....something that would allow you to not place these precious pieces in your hand. You see, most of us have this feeling that proper handling of coins is of the utmost. I gently encourage you to not to handle your coins in this manner....:smile
Thats the first time I've touched those coins. I only hold coins like this so I can take pictures usually I hold around the edges but with hammered coins it doesn't seem to matter either ways.
Hey Frank. In Canada we had numerious Victoria coins that were minted at the Heaton Mint in Birmingham. They always had an H mint mark under the date. Same with brit coins?
