So last night I was working and I had to open up a roll of dimes and I got these 3 mercury dimes out of the roll and someone spent this last year silver quarter
What do you want to bet that someone, somewhere, is gloating that they were able to spend (or cash in) those "old beat-up foreign" dimes like they were "real money"?
It wouldn't surprise me considering people have actually tried to spend foreign money where I work at
I'm sure. But, hey, if you can keep up with exchange rates, you might even be able to profit there...
That's to much to keep up with plus unless its a like a Canadian coin or other common foreign coin that I can identify its face value i cannot accept it
Other possibility is someone's grandma or grandpa passed away and the kids and/or grandkids went through all the drawers in the house "treasure hunting" for big money and/or life insurance policies and simply just rolled all the change they rounded up during the hunting and turned it in at the bank for paper cash.
Well I've never got that lucky at work besides I never mix personal business with professional business
You can't actually turn foreign coins in the US at a currency exchange or bank and exchange to US money; only foreign currency (obviously that hasn't been demonitized as well). So unless you go to the country to spend the foreign coins you are likely out of luck unless your LCS will take them off your hands...
