    Well, for me at least.
I ordered a grouping of 15 IKE Proof Dollars off of eBay which arrived in today's mail. 5 of the coins were in an original shipping box but the thing that pleased me the most was an original order form for the Eisenhower Dollars printed in early 1971! (GPO:1971 OL-419-511)

Whether I find anything of value in the shipment is unimportant at this point in time since the above document made the transaction very "worth while" for me!

That is awesome! I love these finds. Did you get the ones in the blue envelopes too?

This kind of thing is just so cool to many of us, yet most folks throw it away.

    Ditto on the cool!

An auctioneer friend once told us about a sale that included a few empty "original" Winchester boxes. The empty boxes brought a ton more money than the rifles would have. Your packaging reminded me of that conversation. And just think, unlike the Winchester boxes, you still have the original contents.

That was nice of someone to make available on EBAY.

Wow,, $10 per coin back in 1971. Just curious, what'd you give for them.

They say a good investment doubles in value every 10 years,,, so initial investment per a single coin:
    1970 - $10
    1980 - $20
    1990 - $40
    2000 - $80
    2010 - $160
.... So I'm gonna say you paid $2,400 for these 15 coins ?
Everyone knows coins are a great investment. ;)

    btw,, neat purchase.

    I wish!

$189 +$15 shipping. The coins themselves are difficult to sell for more than $6.00 each (unless I'm buying) so as an investment..................

    ........these were a huge dud!

But, coin collecting was never intended to be an investment vehicle. Certain speculators have given it that appearance of the past 5 or so years though.

Just yer typical Proof IKE's. No massive DDO's or DDR's.

One did have this interesting mintmark though:

If it were a 1974-S, it would be called a micro-mintmark.
