    FINALS..

I'll only rank those who played in the last round.

    Dropped scores this week.
    BadThad - drops lowest 4:hail:
    Shoe - drops lowest 3:hail:
    Coinman - drops lowest :hail:

We'll do 5 this round. That should buy a few more folks another dropped score.
    1 PCGS
    1 ANACS
3 2nd tier - of which there are no 'ringers' like the 19 in the last round. I will provide hedging comment for each of these, but they are already close imo.

Gotta have at least 10 graded to rank.

Rankings (points reflect average points off tpg grades):
GOLD - RLM's - 1.72 - only one to net reduced score out of semi's.
    SILVER - Duke - 1.96
    BRONZE - Louie2ibts - 2.08
    Others:
    BadThad - 2.60
    Shoe - 2.97
    Coinman - 3.90

Finals will net a few dropped scores for some, so that opens the scores up some for dynamics in the final ranking.
Semi's were intentionally loaded with a couple of ringers to provide for opportunity within the pack.. didn't work out that way, kudo's RLM.

    This is it... !!!

Please note whether or not ya'll would want to move on to a BEST OVERALL GRADER's exercise or not within you final submission for CENT's.. and maybe I'll dial up another 13 rounds with a motley assortment to see how your expertise translates to other denominations.

    2nd tier comment:
24D SEGS - I agree with grade. Is that corrosion ?
14S TG - Nice coin.. graded 5-10 points high imo.
27 TG - I agree with grade. Nice coin.

31D PCGS - The new star of my collection.. a recent addition (please no cheating by any of you internet researchers). Stunning coin in hand.
1857 ANACS - "ring-ring" be careful...... also see if you can attribute the DD, probably impossible from the pics,, but maybe doable.

    A couple of questions;

    1) 24-D - corrosion? Where? Are you talking about the streaks (wood graining)?

    2) Who or what is TG?

1 - 8 o'clock on the obv rim,, kinda greenish gunk.. hasn't gotten any worse in years,, some maybe just green brown gunk.. dunno.

2 - TrueGrade ,, probably more of a 3rd tier than 2nd tier IMO... maybe not as bad as NNC, not much better. That said, I will say that I think they got the 27 right, or close to it,, I couldn't guide anyone higher or lower on thier grade. Thier 14S is overgraded IMO,, probably 5-10 points,, but it appears to be an honest brown coin, a bit dark.

Remember, we grade by what the tpg says, not me,, so if I were getting my advice here, I would derive my grade for the 14s, then add 5-10 points to it based on how well I knew how the advisor (me) graded, and how TG graded....
Short stick - my advice is to grade the 14s yourself, then add some to it to hedge.

    Round 12 FINAL's recap:

Another tough round, made so intentionally to provide for potential dynamics in the rankings... and once again, RLM's slammed the door with emphasis.

    SEGS grades:
24D - EF40 - couple of heavy obv dings, but nice coin and fair grade imo.
    TG grades:
14S - EF45 - very clean fields and even wear, hard to find dings at all, I'd call it VF35. Overgraded at EF45
    27 - MS63 - no agruments from me.
    ANACS grades:
1857 - BB DDOFS-101 S-3 corroded, net VF30 - the zinger in the mix, -5pts for not calling it BB then -any grade miss was the dynamics in the round. Everyone got hurt equally. I really can't see obvious corrosion on this puppy. maybe at 1 o'clock on the reverse, some green brown gunk like the 24D's ovb.. also has not gotten any worse in years....
    PCGS grades
1931D - MS65 RD - Beautifully red toned obv fields provide a background for Abe in Mint red golden yellow... I've been looking for a 31D like this one for years before finding it on Teletrade's last auction,, I'd challenge anyone to find another 31D with more eye appeal in this grade or higher.. I think it's the nicest 31D on the planet.

Awards for this set of cents:
    Best - RLM's - 2.6 > SLAM !
    HA - Shoe - 6.6 ;)
    Others:
    BadThad- 3.2
    Duke - 3.4
    JustaFarmer - 5.2
    Louie2bits - 3.4

CoinTalk's BEST CENT GRADER summary upcoming....

I will nit pick a bit since you gave us the zinger. I will bet that 1857 is not "net 30", but rather 30 details. If ANACS net graded it, they would give it F12.

Good call out.. your right "VF30 details" it is. I thought ANACS always put net grade when they marked one with BB like problems,,,, live and learn, thanks RLM's.
