Could be me but the date looks a bit off, also it has a slight pitted look, but cant tell if its from the toning. More experienced collectors what are your thoughts?

While not unusual to find key and semi-key date coins in the raw, any seller with some common sense would have such pieces encapsulated simply for the authentication. For all the more it costs the profit and chances of a sale increase dramatically. For this example, even a details grade would exceed the opening price and find a home. The only reason not to do so would be knowing, or at least suspecting, that it is counterfeit.

EBay as told us that the item was withdrawn "because it was lost or broken." I hope that it was "lost down the toilet," but I doubt it.
