Where do you guys get yours? Do you buy them, or can you still get them from the bank?

Believe it or not some banks get them in rolls. If you're friends with a teller at your bank ask them to hold the Ikes for ya.

Coin shops have bags of $100 face value for $30 - $45 over face value and you can get them there.

My main dealer has $100 bags of Ikes for $145.

If I just bought a few or a roll would they just charge me face value?

Not the coin shop in my town. But sometimes he'll give them out as change.

Are any Ike dollars worth much in circulated condition?

Sure, the 40% silver (silver-clad) Ikes have precious metal content and turn up in circulated condition.

There's an Ike tab on Coinflation.com

Ask at your bank branches, or watch these online sources:

    • eBay,
    • eBid.net,
    • TeleTrade.com in the Silver Dollar category (for TPG graded),
    • Apmex.com in the Dollars section down the left column

A bank will only sell them to you at face value.

The banks should, but the coin shops nada. They're looking to make something on the deal.

Anywhere from $2.00 to $6.50 for the copper/nickel ones, the silver clads a little more.

I have quite a few in my collection. What Ikes are you looking for?

Well the empty slots in my book are 1971, 1974, 1974-D, Bicentennial-D, 1977, 1977-D, 1978, 1978-D. Why? Would you be willing to sell me some?

I think the OP was just wondering where one could find Ikes for collecting, ie banks, coin shops etc.

But that's a nice offer to help someone new out :thumb:

    Help

I have been involved with coins for more than 20 years. I learned a long time ago how not to treat people who are new to coins. I had plenty of bad experiences, I make every attempt to NOT duplicate those experiences when I can.

    Thanks,

    Carl

I am not exactly new to coins, I have been collecting for 4-5 years. Which may not seem a lot to some of you more experienced coin collectors but I am 15 years old so I have been collecting a good portion of my life. Thanks for contacting me about the Ikes :)

Filling those holes in your album

Yes, I can help you fill those holes in your album. Tell me about you. How long have you been collecting etc. Coin Talk lists you as a junior member, does this mean you are younger or not a full fledged member yet? I am relatively new to Coin Talk myself so I am learning. Either way, I am glad to be able to help a fellow Ike collector out. Look forward to hearing back.

I PMed you the answers to those questions and also asked you how much you would be willing to sell each of those Ike dollars for. As for the junior member that relates to your post count, nothing to do with your age.
