Here are two silver Swiss Francs, one minted in 1945 and the other in 1966. I think they are beautiful, but then again beauty is only in the eye of the beholder :D Please feel free to cybergrade them. The 45 (probably Nazi Silver) is a little blurry, but in the same condition as the 66.

    Thanks

Beautiful!! I love Swiss coins :) Make them proof, even better. Make them gold and I am so in trouble. Let's not even talk about the gold proof coins :( ;)

This design (KM 21) was first introduced in 1874 and ran in silver until 1967. This pair is stunning!

And I might add they are still going strong today. Most Swiss coins have a classic look because they were designed in the 19th century.

Quite right! The original design is unchanged or nearly so.
    1968 - 1981 KM21a.1 is copper-nickel instead of .835 silver.
1982 KM21a.2 also CU/NI has 22 stars and medal alignment.
    1983 - date KM21a.3 CU/NI has 23 stars.

WHOW! I have many similar coins, but none in that condition!

    I envy you!

FWIW, the number of stars refers to the number of cantons in Switzerland. In 1978, Jura became a separate canton, so the number went up from 22 to 23.

Veeery nice piece indeed. I have some silver francs too, but they are not nearly as neat ... :)
