:crying: Everytime there has been a major coin event in my area since I began collecting , without fail it has happened at a time when I am singing a concert elsewhere. Take a look at this auction that is happening here near Seattle this Saturday. http://garrisonauctioneers.com/Documents/Coins.pdf Once again I will be singing a concert:crying:
Sounds like it is time for some multi-tasking. Attend the performance and dash on over to the auction or vice versa. Good luck at the auction and break a leg at the concert. :smile TC
Believe I thought about it , but have 2 performances that day. If I didn't have a solo , I would gladly miss 1 of those concerts to get my hands on 1 of those lots of "box of foreign coins". I just know all the US silver listed in the auction listing , is going to go for way more than I can afford right now. And Thank You !
I was able to place an absentee bid on 1 of the boxes of foreign coins ( sight unseen ) The auctioneer gave me a brief description over the phone and since the lot had at least 1 old coin and there were about 25 in the box , I bid & turns out I won. Here are a few of the coins I got for about 50 cents each.
As a musician you are well aware that the show must go on, no matter what. As a former musician I have missed all kinds of fun activities. Usually it was worth it. Coins will always come and go, I hope your performance was enjoyable and memorable.
So many solutions to this. 1. Stop singing 2. Stop coin collecting 3. Stop both and get a job 4. Move to a location where they have those things but on different days. 5. Go to the coin place and sing or as already mentioned, have the concert at the coin show 6. Have the coin show at the concert 7. Also as already mentioned don't wrorry about the coins, they will always be around but you could loose your voice and then what? Remember that you don't see many older singers around but you do see a lot of older coin collectors.
Some interesting perspectives here that I hadn't thought of. But I was fortunate enough to take part in both events this time.
I can picture it now ; the repertoire will include the following songs: "Bad Penny" Rory Gallagher "Three Coins In a Fountain" Henry Mancini "Brother , Can You Spare a Dime ?" Bing Crosby "Can't Buy Me Love" The Beatles "Money" Pink Floyd "Money , Money , Money" Abba "Money For Nothing" Dire Straits "Money Changes Everything" Cyndi Lauper "Take The Money and Run" Steve Miller Band and since it is the season , we will close the set with: "Taxman" The Beatles
