This unusual silver coin was founf in the dirt in a very old house. It may be roughly 300+ years old. Can anyone give a clear indication of the coin's background? and possible value? Thanks
Looks like a british coin... although it strikes me as funny looking. http://www.petitioncrown.com/s_oxford_rawlins_pound_ful_.html Reminds me of that.... but the writing on your coin looks 100 years old, not 300. Perhaps someone else can be of more help.
I really cannot figure out any other inscription. Sorry It might well be britsh because we where under their colony.
In my experience, some serifs at the bottoms of I's for those period coins can look similar to J's. But when in doubt, I interpret them as I's.
When I looked at it I thought oh thats only around 100-200 years old, surprises me that is 300+ yrs old!
