Guess the grade of this Morgan... And, this Barber... I'll let everyone know how close they get tomorrow.
The Morgan... I would guess MS-60 to MS-62 and the Barber needs a shave..hahah LOL looks like a metal detector find! There seems to be some scratchiing behind the head of Liberty as well as many many tick marks on the field and cheek! RickieB
It's gonna be a surprise... Come on everyone, add your comments as to the grades. I will post the pictures later of the coins in the PCGS holders. I think everyone will be surprised.
Could we see a pic of the reverse as well? Not sure on the Barber, but the Morgan looks a little soft above the ear...could be an 'O' mint? Guessing an overall grade (without being able to see the reverse) could possibly fetch an MS64ish...that's if those marks that I'm seeing are as slight as I'm thinking (probably nothing more than slight breaks in the luster, minimal bag marks)...pics usually make them looks worse than they are.
I agree...before anyone can grade a coin right they must see both sides.... Is the barber UNC or a PF??--don't think I could go high with that one because of the brown on the face... Speedy
Here you go... I'm going to have to step out for a while, so here are pictures of the entire coins... ............................ These are not mine, so reverse pictures are not available. I thought everyone would be surprised at the grades, especially on the dime. Be back later!
Yay! For the Morgan I was right on the 'O'...and I was going to push it as far as a possible 65 but decided to err on the side of conservative...guess I should have gone with my first instincts. Thanks for the posts!
I never would have gone to that with the dime....the brown toning takes it down for me---the Morgan...yes I can see a 65...since its a O and a good strike...yep... Speedy
It may not be correct to say this but here goes...I think someone knew someone in this instance..I would have never gone a 65 with the Morgan or the Barber..to many marks on the Morgan ...compare it with a lesser graded coin and you will see what I mean! As they say "it's whom you know" that gets the grade. My opinion only...as I have sent in much nicer Morgans and gotten much less of a grade that that ! RickieB
The reason I posted these is because I would have no problem selling a Morgan like that as BU Toned for MS63 Money, if I could get it. The Barber on the other hand looks like it was in a fire, someone tried to repaint it silver, changed their mind and wiped it off with a shop rag. It's just an ugle coin to be MS65? The above are my opnions and if you don't agree, that is fine, we all have our own likes and grading standards. BCA
