I'm just going to wait until the entire 2010 uncirculated set comes out in July. I'm just not in that much of a hurry I guess.
2008 was the last year for me. In 2009 I decided that it wasn't worth the money just to keep up my albums. I would get an uncirculated, a proof and a silver proof set each year, but now it just doesn't appeal to me, mostly because of the money. Well over 100 bucks for those 3 sets. I'm concentrating on my Morgans now, both slabbed and Intercept albums.
I'm beginning to feel like the Mint has an overinflated ego, the prices are continually on the increase and there is no room for our opinion in their services. The coins which they choose to make available are not minted with collectors in mind. If anyone bought the 2009 Lincoln Cent rolls they know how poorly the mint did in providing quality products to be collected. I opened several rolls and found the coins spotted and in pretty shabby condition, maybe 2% were worthy of being saved. That being said, I paid 895% over face value plus shipping and then they don't offer any of the coins which will be of value down the road. The nickels and dimes of 2009 are the ones to tuck away for 50 years in perfect condition, those of us who get our hands on those coins will reap the benefits of the rarity of modern mintages attributed to so few coins being produced in this day and age. ~rant over~ Oh, I will not be buying this particular mint product.
I hear you on that. I bought $500 of the 2001 Sac's and they were the nastiest coins I've ever seen. Not the design or anything, but the coins were discolored and very spotty. To your list of 2009 keepers I would add the redesigned Lincoln pennies.
Geez such a foreign concept... you mean someone actually has dissatisfaction with our modern-day Government bureaucrats: their work ethics, customer service, value, and their quality-control standards..? They can't possibly be that bad! After all, they were just recently entrusted with the future of our nation's health system! Anyways, not buying the set. Crap in a pretty box is still crap, no matter how many pretty bows you tie around it.
