Ok, so I thought I'd poll and see just who likes the design on the new 2010 Lincoln Cent. I got my first rolls from the bank the other day and personally do not like the new design. To me, it seems like they copied the Shield nickels and two cent pieces. Cast your vote!

I like it. I think they could have done better, but it's a vast improvement over the memorial design.

I like the design for a few reasons. First they did not screw it up as they have with so many coins of recent (Jefferson with bangs comes to mind...). Also it is more traditional, and not to flashy. Plain simple and artistic.

I will miss the Memorial as I did like it as well as the Wheat Back, which was before my time...though I remember the look on my fathers face when as a boy I got excited about a 1950's wheat back and stated how old they were, this would have been around 1980, lol

Since you want a yes/no answer, Yes, I like it...kinda. I mean it's better than design 10 that they almost chose, but knowing that it's more than likely the last reverse design that we'll see on the cent before the cent goes away, I'm not happy with it. There were two way better designs (design 12 and 17) http://coins.about.com/od/uscoins/ig/2010-Lincoln-Cent-Reverses/ that would've really made the Lincoln cent go out in style.

lol...Just voted "No" and evidently only me and one other person thinks this way. I will admit I have yet to see a 2010 cent, so my opinion may change when I see it in person, but I must say that it seems bland. I have no idea what the shield is to represent and overall I simply am not impressed. Oh well...to each their own.

I believe it has more to do with the fact that Lincoln kept the US of A together, see below:

The 2005 act that authorized the redesign for the Bicentennial stated that another redesigned reverse for the Lincoln penny will be minted which "shall bear an image emblematic of President Lincoln's preservation of the United States of America as a single and united country"

    This is from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_%28United_States_coin%29

  8. I like the new design. The LMC had run its 50 year course, and it was time for a change. TC

I do like the new design, but there were definately a few better choices they had to choose from. I feel many like the new design just because they were sick of fifty consecutive years of the memorial design.

Well, that was informative. Figured the stripes on the shield would have significance, just wasn't positive as to what. It was sort of cool that the shield was so commonly painted during Lincoln's term though...didn't know that. I also looked at the other choices and I agree, could have chosen better design. However, I'll still stick with my vote of no.

No. The 2010 design has convinced me to stop collecting Lincoln Cents. I was sitting on the fence through the 2009 four coin set. The new design pushed me off.

Yes I do like it but if I was given a choice I would have said let's go back to the wheat cent reverse. :D

Sorry, it looks too much like a token or the cartoonishness of the Presidential dollars. Funny thing is, the first one I saw was while I was in Puerto Rico on vacation and my first reaction was, is this real? Apparently so.

I think it was time for a design change, but the mint should stop trying designs that look like Walt Disney and instead start channeling St. Gaudens or Fraser. Just my humble opinion.
