Good afternoon everyone! I posted a thread with this coin a few days back, but it finally arrived and I have taken some better photos of it. The coin in question is a 1916 Buffalo nickel in really good condition with what I would consider to be a slightly uncertain two-feather variety. So first off the grade, I'm completely clueless when it comes to MS buffalo's, so I'll need your more refined advice to help me out here. Most people on the other thread tended to veer towards 64 or 65 based on the seller's photos, which were not very representative of the coin, so what do you think now? Then to the variety... I've seen many examples on PCGS coinfacts of two feather buffalo nickels with the similar weak feather strike being verified as full FS401 varieties. I added an image below, but you can see that it is pretty much what I have. However, in the last thread, a lot of people said it wasn't the full true variety because of this, so I want to hear your opinions on that. Thanks all, and enjoy your weekend! PCGS example My coin
I say a 65/66 on the op coin very nice buffalo..it has a lot of clashes too. @SensibleSal66 did you notice the die crack?
Sal here's a 1916 I owned at one time...sold it to a dealer friend, who sold it to another well known dealer here...priced at $350 wish I got that for it lol.
I think it's an easy 66er. All around, it just looks that good. Paddy's observations are interesting, a little bonus for you.
This is the one that had hair on it? This thing is a 66 in my book, all day long! Very nice coin. I wouldn’t hesitate sending this one in. I can’t speak to the variety as I never got into those.
I am in agreement with most of you. This one looks like an easy 65 with a great shot at 66. As far as the Two Feather, not in my book. It has feather detail easily visible. For it to qualify, there has to be no feather detail visible.
