Well after nearly a decade of collecting I finally went and joined the ANA. For those who still aren’t in ANA there is an ongoing deal for October. If you join before the end of the month you can get your first year of membership for just $5 - this is normally a $30 value. https://info.money.org/frugal-membe...ONA&utm_content=228396931&utm_source=hs_email Now should I join LSCC or EAC next?
Been a member 40+ years. No regrets. The Summer and mid Winter shows are well worth attending. Been to 15 shows and the headquarters twice.
I almost didn't renew my ANA membership since the journal doesn't usually have much that interests me but I'm glad I did since the latest issue has a nice article by William Eckberg. Bill is the former President of EAC and sold me my 1793 half cent during the peak of the pandemic. I'm a member of ANA, EAC, C4, JRCS, LSCC, FUN (Florida United Numismatists) and CFCC (Central Florida Coin Club). LSCC has the slickest journal with EAC close behind. C4 recently upgraded its publication. If I could only choose one to join, assuming my collecting interests were equal, then I would choose LSCC. But there are other considerations such as: EAC has an annual EAC-only convention with an EAC-member only auction. LSCC has a club presence/table at very many regional and national shows with exhibits. They usually partner these efforts with the Barber Collector Club. LSCC also has an annual meeting at one of the big shows with an auction to benefit the club (coin glass, exonumia, etc.) Dues are so modest for all these clubs that it doesn't even seem like an option to not join them all. I have gained many multiples in knowledge and relationships from these memberships than the cost of membership. Dues are: EAC - $39 LSCC - $25 C4 - $31 JRCS - $25 FUN - $20 CFCC - $20
