My first Anglo Saxon penny. Aethelred II Long Cross Penny Minted In London By Aethelweard. The legend on the reverse reads "+EDE LPER DMO LVND". Dating..997-1003. Well here it is..

Well, it was in a lot of coins that I paid £326 for. The lot contained 21 hammered coins. I've just found out I have an Edward II Bury St Edmund's penny in with the lot and I think thats worth about £30-40 so I haven't actually paid a lot for the Aethelred penny. anyway sorry for going on...I probably paid between £100-120 for it but these coins go for around £120 (if damaged, pierced) - £200+ The lot of 21 coins contains a lot of nice coins...

It included some really nice stuff...an edward III half groat and an elizabeth I sixpence aswell...I got a great deal. Those alone are about £30 each on ebay
