No, actually, if your money is so hard earned, and you are only making a few extra bucks off the sale, it's hardly worth your time listing and dealing with in the first place. If it's so hard earned, keep the dough in your pocket in the first place instead of shouldering the burden and risk of potential flop commems.

on eBay particularly, not all buyers are alike. fools and their money... you know the rest.

What are you doing watching coin TV shows? Don't you know that's a pack of liars wasting your time and stealing your life from you? :desk:

I'm sure and I hope you get it too, as I have said to the others with such optimism for these coins and despite my prediction that they will not perform as anticipated.

krispy is right. modern commemorative. no way jose. look at marine corps. the design is very beautiful. but if you sell it back to dealer. it's near mint offered value.

Then why ask those here who are few with time to waste watching the shows themselves... I think you know well from watching them what's being broadcast there plus you can always stay in touch with them on their shop at home website:whistle:

Yeah, no matter how many times you tell that joke, it still doesn't change the chances of your BSA performing better nor getting your comedy career off the ground :hail:

IMO the BSAs have already proven to be a huge disappointment for flippers. In fact, many of these I have seen sold for a loss. This was on the first page of ebay completed listings (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140398272365). They paid about $36 for the coin from the mint, about $16 for grading+s&h, $5 ebay fees, $3 for s&h to buyer...you're looking around $60 into this coin, they lost money.

These haven't even sold out at the mint and demand has already started to wane. You can get a slabbed pf69 in the $40 range and an ms69 in the $30 range, with many going unsold...and the large inventory from all of the flippers waiting on their coins from mint or the TPGs hasn't even hit the market yet.

I just don't see the demand for theses exceeding supply, even after the mint sells out. I mean there is only 350,000 of these, and demand is already way down with 266,000 being sold.

Everyone making correlations of the number of boy scouts and demand for these coins is hogwash...everyone that wants one is going to get one and there are far fewer than 350,000 people that want, or are willing to pay that much for one.

If I had purchased a large inventory of these in hopes of flipping, I would send these back to the mint in the blink of an eye.

better to return or cancel if you bought them or bought a lot. this is another failure. even worst than benjamin franklin.

Yes, The Coin Vault, has a number of "offers" for them ranging from $129 for PF70 down to $79 for MS69. I watch this channel sometimes for entertainment reasons, though on mute, and saw them on this week. It made me think of this topic as this program seems to be running these coins a great deal. This tells me that a lot of the early coin sales of this coin were bought by flippers which were then immediately sent to the TPGs in search of quick profits. This is the business model of shows like the CV.

Since the BS coin has not sold out, I am going to say the theory there will be huge demand due to there being a lot of boy scouts is not a good one. Given the mintage amounts, and (admittedly my opinion) the lackluster design I would say this coin is probably going to end up close to spot in the long run. Maybe there will be a small premium, but it won't cover what the mint has on it right now.

Just my three cents. The coin dealing business is like everything else, you have to pick up your inventory at below market price and have buyers will to pay market or higher price. You can scour ebay in the wee hours, cherrypicking. or pick up coins firesale from people that need the cash and then resale for a nice price. Buying a dollar for a 50 cents (no pun intended).

Personally, I wouldn't buy current coins looking to flip em but that's just me. If somebody wants to try and flip it, that's their business. Best of luck to you. Or if you looking at holding them, that's their business too. Personally I never considered coins an invesement. They don't pay any dividends or income and it costs money to keep them. However that said, they can hold their value or appericate meaning their better collection item then beanie babbies.

All in all though, my crystal ball says the BSA coin appericates due to a built in market of scouters out there. And those looking to give them as gifts for scouters. There's alot more scouts, scouters, etc then there is marines or disable vets. However, I'm just collecting not investing in the coin so I'm not putting my money on it.

    Boy that was long....

At one time I truely thought that this coin would sell out quickly!
Now, I'm fairly certain I was wrong.

Given the design (which controls enthusiasm) and quantity, I feel fairly certain that this coin will be another dud in a long line of US Mint Commemorative Dud's and nothing is going to save it except a dramatic rise in the price of silver.

If there was going to be a flipping wave, there most certainly would have been an indicator by now. eBay sales have not been promising and I just don't really believe that a sell out of the coin at the US Mint is going to change that.
