Thought I'd share some of my small bills, have a couple questions

    Here are some 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's, a small part of my grandmothers cash collection. Here's a couple old star notes, some sequential bills, and Barr notes. She was very much into stamps also as you can see with the 1976 $2's.

    Question about these Barr notes (1963 B). The note that was with the bills reads: " Complete set of Barr Notes....One from each of the Five Districts. Last two Serial Numbers of each note match." Are these valued by collectors? Is this something I'll want to hang onto?

    My grandmother also acquired 25 Barr Notes (1963 B), all from the 12th District, numbered L23105776G - L23105800G. I checked and they're all in order. Same question as above. All uncirculated, flat and crisp.

    Thank you for looking! Let me know what you think or if you see anything interesting!

    @SteveInTampa can offer you some good advice. From my unexperienced eye, your grandmother had a great eye for currency. Some nice notes there.

    @mdbb Hello! Welcome to CoinTalk.
    I think that everything you have there is collectable and looks very similar to mine. I especially like the 1929 Note from Boston,MA and the $1 Star Notes!!

    Very nice collection of paper money she had. Yes they all have a value above face. The Barr notes are collectible and with all paper money, condition is everything. You’ll not retire but I wouldn’t part with them because they were grandma’s.

    In the attic next to the stack of old Red Books, was another set of smaller books on paper currency. 1975 Official Guide United States Paper Money by Theodore Kemm. This book is great, it's answered all of my questions about the Barr notes in great detail. The only thing is the prices aren't updated and how I would love a color version. I even found an 1963 A $5 tucked away in one of the bigger books, wrinkled and circulated but in otherwise in decent shape!

    Also thank you for the kind words. She was very meticulous in her collecting and kept very extensive records i'm finding.

    She clearly had a great eye for nice quality notes with loads of eye appeal!

    I'd want to hang on to the best of the bunch. Plus, I would probably be inclined to sell some of the run of 25 (& use the $ to acquire other notes/upgrades) unless $ is not an issue for you. You might also want to upgrade a $5 or the LGS $10 (etc). The possibilities are endless! What a lovely collection. Congrats!

    These 13 blocks makeup a complete set of 1963B Barr notes. 10 notes in this post and 3 in the next post.
