Oh my God, this was not supposed to be a coin I'd grow attached to. Strictly supposed to be a business transaction, yet another bit of gold to my portfolio. But I can't help falling in love with it no matter how hard I try not to. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful vintage gold coins I've ever held. Please feel free to comment, or share yours:

Chaplain used the same image of Marianne on the medals he designed for the Paris Expo of 1900. See the pics below. There was a huge variety of these. The main difference was the name inscription on the reverse. The names could refer to famous people, expo sponsors and expo booth holders. For the medal in the pics, I’m not sure if E. Jolibois was the French politician and philosopher who died in 1896 or the prominent publisher who was active during 1900.
