The 2010 Return of the Tyee $3 coin from the RCM is another RCM $3 winner! This coin is going to be a sell out with a mintage of only 15 K! Back in 2006 the RCM came out with a $3 Square Beaver issued around $39 usd. it too sold out with a mintage of 20 K. I purchased 10 of these 2006 Square beavers...sold 9 none less than $100.00 over cost! They still hold a good value today on e bay selling in the 199.00 range.Check it out..... This is a great coin to hold or flip as this one is going to be a hot one!IMHO
I should get one for my brother. He caught a 56lbs tyee back in the summer of '08. We were on a fantastic fishing trip near Bella Bella, BC.
I would not call it a coin? Granny bait is more appropriate. A keep sake with a little precious metal in it. Sorry, just my opinion.
Hello everyone, Nice coin. I too did not know Canada had a $3.00 coin, token, memento. Funny here Canada is making these nice pieces, and not making a lot of them, with a high demand for 4 years, and why isn't the U.S. mint doing this? Regards, Stan
My Point Stan, I love our coinage from the past. Now I'm not excited as I am with some items comming from Canada and other countries. I have beensaying for years that th U.S. Mint needs to produce coins like the RCM does. Nice low mintage coins would apeal to just about everyone. I plan to post some other Canadian coins later today . Just think of the money the U.S. Mint could make....???? Just think of the coins we could add to our collections.
Very few of the RCM offerings are worth the price 6 months after they are made? I am baffled by the excitement over the stuff.
The Beaver took off because of it's unique shape (square) not the monetary denomination ($3). This doesn't have the same appeal.
Yes the 2006 Had a new square form and did help make it a sell out.... but the new" Return of the Tyee "is going to be a hit too! A coin that's nice size and tri tone coloring in both Pink Gold & Gold 24 kt. Makes for a very nice collectable.
A few more Canadians I love....2005 Tall Ship ketch and a one year porduction of an 1/2 oz. Silver Wolf Mintage only 106,800

People like collecting different types of coins and tokens,etc... and trends do come and go.....but demand is always the winning factor...in the true value of anything.
One coin apprecating once every five years, out of hundreds, verifies what cannercoins said. Once again, if this wasn't the first SQUARE coin it's price would've gone backwards, just like the one you're presently touting will.
I just ordered one of these from the RCM site. I notice some people trying to flip these on ebay for as much as $99. It's still much cheaper from the RCM site, especially if you use the "owl" promo code for free shipping. Anyway like I said I think this would be a perfect gift for my brother / best man for the wedding.
One just sold on eBay for $41 + $9 shipping. Prices are actually dropping, not going up like crazy as you say.
Well I don't think I said the value was going up, just that people were trying to sell it for more than the issue price.
