I'm a picker - and I picked this baby tonight - but I've never come across an error like this - IF it is indeed an error. It must be of the lamination type. I scrutinized this coin with my loop and have determined that it's NOT damage or wear. There is something neat about this little coin. Is this a lamination error? If it is an error, is it worth anything? I don't plan on selling it, but I'd like to know what it is Thanks in advance for any and all information and help. Sincerely - Esky
This was out of a $50 bag of pennies. I have to say upon examination - this does NOT look like post mint damage. However, I'm not an expert on errors - so I can't make any official claims. I was hoping someone REAL good could tell me what it is. Esky
Maybe a copper dust-partially sintered planchet. Does it look like peeling, or like spilled caustic liquid?
Looks like Tester's silver model plane paint to me. Is there a definite edge where the copper and silver meet?
Has any one ever see a penny with what looks like a face either way u turn it. It's in the shinny part above the liberty then below the liberty it looks like a fish head. It's looks like water run off and dryed. But it seam to be in the coin itself. It's a 1971 s.
Chewing gum that has the sticks wrapped in wax paper that has a thin metal foil bonded to the wax paper can have the thin metal foin stripped if you are REAL careful (or if it is a boring class). The thin metal foil can then be applied to a coin or whatever and pressed to make a fantastic fit. I think that's what you got...or it might be the most fabulous error ever discovered and you should have it insured for $1,000,000
You have been around for almost 10 years, and you haven't even received 1 like?! That truely is sad! Ha, ha!
