IMO, these will be good to flip in the short-term. I just got mine in the mail today and am very impressed with the quality. The reverse is stunning in both uncirculated and proof. My obverse on the proof does not look grainy at all as some have noted. TC
The 2001 Buffalo had close to 470,000, The Marines had 500,000. The Ben Franklins had 200,000 for each design (and worth the least). The BSA coins in the first hour shutdown the website from volume. How many times has the USMINT site been brougth to a crawl from volume. I only remember the 2006 reverse proofs.
LN6 C&C 50,000 limited sets. Quite slowed down the web site for the first few hours on day of release, but bandwidth isn't enough of an argument to determine numismatic success. The Mint is always trying to improve it's ordering process on day of release to handle this road bump in fulfilling a flux of incoming orders. Director Moy even spoke to this in the past couple months at one of the coin release ceremonies mentioning that they were working to improve online order process due to past customer complaints Essentially the Mint extended an apology to customers due to site issues as detailed in this CoinNews.net article: US Mint Apologizes to Customers for Chronicles Set Experience Somewhere I else I read a Dir. Moy statement that mirrored the commitment to improving online ordering but cannot dig up that link... grrr!
I had 5 proofs walk in off the street this afternoon... That is the quickest I have ever seen the current years commems walk in the door. Don't know if that is good or bad.
I bought them for the US mints asking price minus shipping... I was going to order a few anyways. I'm gonna toss them back till Christmas and then EBay they go.
I agree with your decision to wait until Christmas/end of Year holiday time... I feel that will be the best time to flip before they start to go the way of other modern commems. I wonder what the sellers reason was for selling them already and without any profit?
... as they say, the best time to make money is when there is blood in the street... or to paraphrase,, buying low in bad times, selling high in good times........ if you have cash in bad times, that is the time to buy.
Yeah, I ordered 2 of the proofs and 2 of the uncirculated. I figured I would take the gamble to see what they will do.
My 4 proofs came in today, i am gonna wait and see if the market on ebay climbs up and then unload, probably be best to wait till Christmas like u guys stated earlier.
