I'm not certain but I'm going to say no to a cud. Part of the die would have broken away and all this extra metal appears to be contained. Possibly a crack in the die allowed this metal flow to happen but was not at a cud stage. If I'm wrong, please do say so someone.

OK not a rim cud! So, what caused the rim to look that way? A worn die???

I’m not sure but it looks as if the Outer layer is peeling away. I’d definitely keep it but I don’t think a worn die caused that.
