Can someone explain to me why the Lincoln cent rolls are so expensive? $8.95?!! And I assume there is shipping added... I can almost understand the premium on last years rolls... A single year with four designs, etc. Which I assume means less rolls in each design. Yet, aren't the mintages very high on these anyway?

As a collector, I guess some just need to have them for the special wrapper.

As an investor, I can't see these appreciating at all. Even in 100 years.

I'd be curious to see what people think... There seem to many overpriced items at the US Mint...

Easy question, Its all about demand, Dealers are gobbling these up and
    Selling them for big profits!!

I feel compelled to grab some just in case they turn out to be winners. If not, I will keep them as keepsakes.

Why wouldn't the mint put that price on them? They sold the ones last year for that price and they flew off the shelves. If it is too overpriced and we (the public) don't pay for them, then they will come down in price.

They're no more expensive than if you bought the rolls from a dealer. Try finding them at a bank and you'll see why people are paying $6 for two rolls. Considering many of us have paid 4 figures for coins with 1 cent face values, I find it funny we'll quibble over such a small fee.

The price is not all that bad in my opinion. It is ususally 8.95 a set plus 4.95 shipping. I bought 3 sets which sort irked me because I already have 48 rolls of "P" cents but I didn't have and "D" cent rolls. I bet the banks won't be able to keep them in their inventories either if they even bother ordering them.

I ordered two sets when I ordered my BSA commems. I figured since the shipping would be the same on one item or all the items, why not. It is not that much without the shipping added to it.

Found a box of 2010 D at the bank today. Tried to buy another box, but the teller balked, and since I didn't have an account there, I gave her my $25, took the box and got out of there happy.

2010 lincoln estimate production should be well over 2,000,000,000 pieces. mint should have sell those roll at around $1.00 to $2.00 instead of $8.95 plus shipping $4.95. total $13.90 for just $1.00 coins.

Maybe this is the last year for the penny. Wasn't the penny's composition suppose to change this year? (sorry about the personification)

I might believe it if people hadn't been saying the same thing for over 100 years now. I don't think it'll go anywhere in any of our lifetimes.

I just had to pick up one set of 2010 cents. At least I'll have one before Christmas. Also the Penny and Nickel composition will change soon. The Nickel has 6 cents of metal the Zinc penny has .0062 of metal.

I just checked some prior prices on the President series mint medals. Back in 1990 they were $1.35 each, in 1984 they were $0.75 each. (The three inch version was $10.)
