Have you written to the CBNCo to inquire about who may have engraved this portrait? The one they sell on their web site doesn't list any details. From the page: For further information please contact us at vignettes@cbnco.com
Seller contacted me to arange a swap of the two pieces. Looks like it might work out. Hope you enjoy the central piece!
Krispy, very nice ticket. The Indian is my favorite. Conno1, very nice engravings. Is ABNC The American Banknote Company?
I recently purchased my copy of The Story of the American Bank Note Company by William H. Griffiths (1959) from a seller I found on Abe Books. I sorted my findings there by those offering free or included shipping, paid $85. It's in wonderful condition with a heavy clear mylar dustcover.
Very nice pickup Darryl.I took a engraving of a New Orleans Steam Wheel Paddle boat & uploaded it to Imagekind.com & had it matted (acid free) picked the type of paper & frame ,they do a beautiful job on any engraving you upload to them, the choices are enless on frames & matts. I'll try to get a scan of the steamboat engraving & the finished framing job. All from my chair !link www.imagekind.com This is the original vignette 3.5" x 2.5" This is the blown up Imagekind Framed Vignette. They charged me about $79 for everything,a nice way to show a vignette "Blown-UP" Vignette Blown-Up to 12''x6" (just the vignette ) total framed 21" x 15"
ABNCO Blow-ups I took a small 3.5x approx 2" & had it blown up for framing.Vignettr's are art & sometimes you can't afford the note but like the vignette.
Gees, $65 for one intaglio? Even in Canadian dollars that seems a bit steep. Bet you can find most of these on original securities for a lot less.
Darryl, I have some of these vellums, too. I'm pretty sure they were printed to illustrate various ABNC annual reports. These were probably leftovers that they gave out later. Those reports are pretty incredible by themselves. When I have time to scan some I'll post them. I already have mental notes on about a dozen topics that would make cool presentations!
gsalexan: Out of curiosity do you by any chance also collect Canadian Bank Note Company items? If you have their work I'd love to see some of your favorites if you put up a thread or indicate CBNCo when you post them.
I'll have to go digging, but I'm sure I have a few. In general CBN used the same plates as ABN -- it was their northern subisidiary.
Canadian Bank Note Krispy, I've started a new thread with some images of CBN items I scanned this weekend: http://www.cointalk.com/t102361/#post858689 If anyone would like to add Canadian items, I'd like to see them. I also have some British American Bank Note intaglio desk calendars, that I'll scan and add as time allows.
