Believe it or not i just found out how to do this!!! So i though i would share With you my Mpc Series 641 PCGS registry set heres the link! Enjoy http://www.pcgscurrency.com/SETREGISTRY/alltimeset.aspx?s=1609
Nice notes!! I don't know much about MPC and had a couple of simple questions... 1. What years was series 641 issued? 2. Who's the blonde on the 5¢-50¢ notes?
Okay, I know nothing about currency and even less about MPC's (had to look it up when you started posting), but that is a great looking registry set.
The Series 641 was issued on August 31, 1965 and withdrawn on October 21, 1968 and was used exclusively in Vietnam The idea behind it was to thwart the black market, If you accepted It and they changed to another series you were out of luck!! It Became worthless!! I will research the blond, Sometimes they do use non fictional People
Interesting...I would hate to win a big poker game and find they switched the series the next day. :crying: I thought the blonde was a movie actress...she kinda looked familiar, but I'm not sure.
Good news Chris!! I found out the info on the Series 661 $1, It was Taken from the vignette of Mount Rainier from the 3 Cent denomination of the 1934 National Parks commemorative postage stamp issue. The same vignette was also used earlier on a essay fo a 20 Cent Definitive postage stamp! Its funny because looking at both of them the Mpc and the postage Stamp the larger tree in center is on the left and on the stamp its On the right and the other trees are a little different as well, Could Be a reverse image or a close up on the stamp! The Engraver was Arthur Wasserbach
I'm suprised that you hadn't done that before. You still havn't set up the complete set yet. Is there a reason for that?
Ive got several sets going on right now but most are still with In one or two notes of being completed, There the tuff ones!! Kind of taking it one set at a time, But i will get that set up soon
I was poking around and it looks like the blonde is just a fictionalized representation of American womanhood...as near as I can tell.
? lol And MPC it's easy to add those notes to a complete set with the ones you already have in there. I'm just wondering how high you'd rank in that one
That's awesome! Just as I suspected. That peak and the lake looked so familiar and you confirmed it! Very cool indeed. Now I wonder if the postage stamp engraver worked for or the vignette was owned by the same company/entity that printed that series of MPCs.
I actually have a deal in the works for Series 692 $5 in 64 or 65 My choosing! Same price kind of contemplating that one, Though the 65 is being offered Iam leaning toward the 64, 65,s sometimes have alot of centering issues! On the Series 541 $10 i would give yours based on the pick probably a low VF probably a 20 i have a 25 looks a bit better. On your Series 521 $5 i have a super nice XF 45 (see pic below)
Wow... this is awesome! Rank 2 Weighted GPA 68.947 Complete 100.00% Set Rating 68.947 Nice stats! :thumb: I was just checking out the list of sets you have... looks to me like you're cornering MPC!!
