Iam not sure if i listed this one before its another one thats In my personal collection, The Series 481 $5 the hardest get By far in this series, Nice ones are few and far between!!
Another beauty specimen. I know virtually nothing about MPC. A few questions: These notes do not have years imprinted? Do these remain tender-able within military establishments regardless of when issued? I understand the intent for creating these notes... but that said, in places where military action is underway, do these notes have any "black-market" value whatsoever for locals? Suppose a service member has reached the end of his/her tour... Are they redeemable for cash?
There were a total of 15 Series: 461- 1946 -47 471- 1947-48 472- 1948- 51 481- 1951- 54 521- 1954- 58 541- 1958- 61 591- 1961- 64 611- 1964- 69 641- 1965- 68 651- 1969 (Short run only a couple of weeks for the fractionals) 661- 1968- 69 681- 1969- 70 691- Unissued ( Very rare!) 692- 1970- 73 701- Unissued (Very rare!) Every time a series was issued the previous series became nul and Void, So none of these would be accepted today!
Outstanding! Extremely rare note. I'll be on the lookout for an even higher grade. Don't hold your breath....
