I can only upload 1 photo at a time today. This is an 1889 Morgan Dollar. Graded by PCI as a MS-63PQ. 95% White was noted on the label. I’ve had this about 24 years.

I must say.. from that obverse image 63 looks a little low.

    Thanks for sharing

I’ve had it a long time and it’s a PCI. If I resubmitted it would probably comeback a MS-64 but I’m content to leave as is.

This is also in 1st generation slab one can tell by the 6 and 9 notice those number here have a curve....and yours are straight not curved thats how to tell the slabs age.:)

Dave…. That is a super sweet Morgan and I am not even a Morgan guy. If those photos are any indication, I believe that to be an under graded piece.

I’m sure it would grade a MS-64 today.

What about sending that one to CAC?

I’d rather buy coins then try for a higher grade. The price difference isn’t that much and it is in an early slab.

I like those old PCI slabs. Nice coin.

    You may be correct.

63 grade looks pretty accurate. Might grade 64 in today’s market. Definitely a nice looking coin. Some of those older PCI slabs were actually undergraded. Surfaces look pretty clean.

UNACCEPTABLE when I last checked, only NGC and PCGS submissions accepted!

I believe it would grade a 64 in today’s world but I’m not about to give up that slab for a point higher. I doubt it’s even worth the fees to me. The surfaces are clean but the slab is slightly scratched.

Those old PCI inserts were not inert and have caused many a 100% white coins to tone over the years. Its a shame that the toning on your Morgan doesn't mimic what typically happens to ASEs.
