eBay’s clunky feedback mechanism is only one of the many problems extant with eBay. More importantly, how are sales on the eBay platform going at the moment?

For those with a longer attention span, an evening’s entertainment of details and facts on eBay’s deliberate facilitating of wire fraud on its consumers world wide and a list of links to a number of PayPal horror stories is contained in my post at:

No excuse. I had first hand experience receiving negative retaliatory feedback from sellers. It never failed. That I hated. But to solve that, ebay simply should have had a better process for getting the bogus negatives removed. Then, let the sellers leave negatives as they have been for dead beat buyers.

In the very limited amount of stuff I have sold on ebay (all non-coin related) I"ve ran into several buyers that were an absolute pain to deal with. Sometimes they just don't pay you for a week. Then you don't know if you're getting paid or not. Sometimes they say they forgot about it! Despite sending several e-mails out. Often times, you can't get any communication out of a buyer. And almost every auction I list has somebody with zero feedback bidding. It never fails. And, those people tend to be problems because they don't know what to do.

To the OP, you did the right thing leaving a negative. More people need to use them so people know the history of these sellers and what to expect when things go poorly. After you leave a few more, you won't even worry about it. My philosophy is very simple. I expect what I would do for people, unless it's a dealer with hundreds of auctions going.

I want easy communication, reasonably fast shipping (less than a week) and I want to receive what was listed in the condition it was listed.
    It isn't that hard!

If those criteria are not met, there's a good chance I'm going to leave neutral or negative. Your seller failed at all the above criteria so he shouldn't be surprised.

“Tiffany & Co and eBay Continue to Battle Over Infringement”
    http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/industries/media/tiffany--ebay-continue-battle-infringement/

“EBay argued to the court that it has spent as much as $20 million annually to rid the site of fraud, including buyer protection programs and employees whose sole job is to monitor infringement issues.”

And is not that the nub of the problem? eBay is spending (only) $20 million annually to rid the site of “fraud, including buyer protection programs and employees whose sole job is to monitor infringement issues”.

On his way to virtually bringing the eBay marketplace to its knees, one person—the eBafia Don himself—was effectively taking home $20 million annually—and still we can’t get rid of him either …

Let’s face it, “customer support” is an expense that the bean-counting gnomes at eBay have no intention of incurring.

Each party should get the opportunity to leave feedback positive
Negative or neutral or whatever, Denying that in my opinion is
Bad business, The buyer has the seller by his "Chinos" ! and there,s
Nothing the seller can do about it, Things that i went through for
Example "Feedback extortion if i didnt give the seller free shipping
Or other discount, On more then several occasions!! And reporting
It to e-bay please!! Talk about a major hassell, And more then half
The time it ends up badly thats why i moved my selling opporations
To e-bid.net a much better selling enviroment :)

    Philip,

Do you have anything to contribute to this site that deals with the subject matter of coins, or are you just using it to further your anti-Ebay agenda?

Its just a matter of opinion, But i think since alot of people do business on e-bay
That issues regarding it should be brought up for discussion, many of us have
Issues with the bay, Me included!!

    @ jallengomez,

I suspect that you may have asked me that same question before. Actually, I enjoy using eBay; I’m not anti eBay. What I am “anti” is eBay’s deliberate encouraging and facilitation of shill bidding ‘wire fraud’ on its consumers the world over.

I am into collectibles, not particularly coins. I receive google advices of matters pertaining to eBay/PayPal, and I will comment on those stories if appropriate.

If you want to understand why I comment on matters eBay (particularly that nonsense that habitually emanates from eBay’s Dept of Spin), principally from a buyer’s point of view, prepare some popcorn and spend a little time following the trail that I have laid out detailing the unscrupulousness of these white-collar criminal executives that control this organization—“the eBafia”, that is.

Of course, if you are a “professional” seller utilizing $1-start auctions on eBay you may well not be interested in hearing what I have to say. ...
