I want to support the information economy, but the apportionment of costs around ads is fatally out of whack. Advertisers pay a few fractions of a cent to place the ads, we pay with reduced battery life, increased stress, and decreased comprehension of the stuff we're trying to read or watch. Our attention isn't billable, so everyone wants to squander it.
I didn't realize that an ad blocker prevents the website from earning ad revenue. I thought it just prevented the viewer from SEEING the ads that were somehow still running in the background. I had no intention of cutting into this blog's ad revenue and will try to unblock the ads only for this website.
I, too, wish it were all set up differently and not be ad-based, but rather be like other things where if you want it, you buy it. It all being free but NOT free because the ads constantly assault you, is very stressful, and mentally and visually exhausting.
