Hi, all. I'm not new to coin collecting, but I am fairly new to CT (second post). I'm also new to the whole taking pictures of coins and posting them online thing. I have a bunch of stuff found coin roll hunting that I think could be errors. Some I'm pretty sure are errors, others not so much, and would like expert opinion. Can you folks tell me what equipment I need to take these pics and how to post them? Thanks!

Someone around here has an actual diagram of the setup if needed, but all you really need is a cellphone and something about the size of a coke can (I use an empty pint sized mason jar when I am doing this...). Rest the cell phone on the can with the camera side sticking out. Place the coin so it appears on the phone's screen. I usually zoom in until the coin's edge is at the edge of the screen and then take your picture. Its that easy!! :)

Yep, cell phones take some really great photos nowadays. The key is to get as close as you can to the coin without using the zoom option. The zoom actually distorts the image, it adds more pixels than necessary.
Crop your image to only contain the coin, and post to CT.

    @71Avalon
    Come on:
First you choose in which forum you want to start the topic.
    For example: ERROR COINS:
Choose Forum - Coin Forum - Error Coins and click on Post New Thread.
Write about what you want to talk about by putting an appropriate title for the subject.
Then click on UPLOAD a FILE to include the photo(s) you want to post. (As shows the photo)
    Image-Upload a File.png
After the photo(s) have been inserted (verify if these was full downloaded) ALWAYS click on FULL IMAGE. BUT REMEMBER to click BEFORE on the line of text you wrote THE PLACE where you want the photo to be, AND ONLY AFTER you click on FULL IMAGE. OK??
IF you'll upload more than a photo (2, 3, 4...)Just click on the"insert every image as..." FULL IMAGE. (as shows this photo)
    Image-Upload more than a photo.png

After that, just click on CREATE THREAD.
    I hope it helped you.

I have the diagram @71Avalon ......Instead of books, you can use a jar or can. Coin_Pictures_101.png

    Here's mine...

The phone/camera needs to be kept steady and you can use the phone software to crop and do other things.

Ok. Thanks, everyone. I figured a phone, but I wasn't sure if they took enough detail of the coin. I know there are digital microscopes, but I know absolutely nothing about them.
