I'm going to hurry up and have some pretzels. Now I forgot where I put the pretzels. What were we talking about?
Thank you for the post. I know a vocal number of this site are down on buying from the mint, but I like the fact that no one else has handled the items. No worries about authenticity, poor handling or environmental issues when bought from the mint. So, I bought a couple of sets. I bet I get the email tomorrow.
And by a happy coincidence, the 2021 silver proof set contains almost exactly 40% less silver than the 2020 or 2022 sets.
Its not a bullion set anyways so that doesnt really matter. All of those sets are just numismatic anyways. Its tempting for that for the Crossing the Delaware which was unfortunately cut very short. I dont know if I will, but I certainty wouldn't have without the discount
I bought 4 silver sets as each of my granddaughters was born (yes 4 in one year) I paid out obnoxious prices to get each (believe it was 105 each for 3 and like 140 for the 4th (mint had none availble at that time) now 40% off? they can gftitawacwnl... sorry the sailor in me seems active tonight... fortunatly acronyms are also a navy thing hint: the C is for Cactus
no no no... paper is "folded until all points", something like oh a Thermos would be "sideways"... A cactus... nah sideways don't matter and it's already "all points" (less so sideways hehe)
This is really irritating for those of who overpaid for the 2021 silver set. It was priced the same as the 2022 set, but it contained three fewer silver quarters. Now the mint is selling the 2021 set at a price that is actually “a bargain.” The only way this might be a trap (Ignoring the fact that Proof sets are usually bad buys at the issue price) is if they are selling the problem sets customers returned last year. I have seen this previously with “last chance” coins. I got stuck with a “last chance” Douglas MacArthur Uncirculated $5 gold that had more marks than normal. I have since recovered on paper because of increases in the price of gold bullion.
