My wife got this in change from the dispensary today. I call it "The close but no cigar" Note because it's almost 00070007. Cool? or spender?? Thanks in advance for commenting.
That's a fence note. As in, I'm on the fence about keeping it or spending it. I don't see it as having any worthwhile premium, but you might. Enjoy it, or whatever you spend it on.
By the dispenser I take it you mean a machine of some sort. I’d keep it just because it’s so close. But why couldn’t she have been at that dispenser earlier. Only a minute earlier.
I’ve heard people call the change giver at auto check outs in stores a dispensary. I’ve also heard the ATM called the money dispensary machine. Dispensary is becoming a commonplace word with no real meaning in my area.
Maybe I just have an under-developed appreciation for this type of thing, but as an outsider looking in, there are very few serial numbers that would be novel enough to warrant keeping in my opinion. These would be things like: "00000001" "55555555" "12345678" Aside from that, all the other varieties of collectable serial numbers just seem like artificial categories designed to expand the field, as there aren't many of the truly special ones to go around. But that's just me, each to their own!
Notes with 007 (James Bond) and also notes starting with AK47 demand a good premium. I even kept this NZ$5 because I liked the number, - although its really a spender.
+1 I've been looking through thousands of notes for the past 20 years (yup- 2 decades) & I see "close, but no cigar" all the time. I know others who have done the same. That's why we dub these close-call serials "spenders." This rule may be broken IF the note in question is in UNC & happens to be a short (or unknown) prefix.
