Can anyone tell me about this quarter, it has deep groves in it, Just look at his head, I looked around on the net for one like it, but could,'t find one. Im sure it must be an error, can any one tell me what it is? Thank You
No need to make 2 threads....just post a note on the last one... The photo shows a damaged coin...value is $0.25 Sorry about that... Speedy
Thought it was an error, never seen anything like it before. I wasn't talking about the color, But the places in his cheek and forhead are deep, they don't look like cuts of any kind.and don't look man made at all, I didn't think it was wear of any kind. It kind of looked like puzzle... Thank You
It's possible it could be the result of a strikethrough ( string ) - or as mentioned it could be damage. Can you post a bit larger pic ?
Thank You GDJMSP Gee thanks, for taking another look, if you could see this coin. It just looks so weird, I'll try to get a larger photo.. if not maybe inlarge part and send it. Got it...Thank You for taking another look.
I would still go with damaged....it doesn't look like the strike through I've seen....but the ones I have seen haven't been string so it might be.... Even if this was a strike through I would think the value would still be little because of 2 things---the orange "rust" like thing that is one it....and the grade of the coin... Again I could be totaly wrong. Speedy
Hey Girl! Fancy meeting you here. Hey anyone thinking that this might be struck thru lamination error???????????? Any thoughts.
Hi, I lean toward damage and corrosion as a result of being buried and dug up again. I see a lot of metal detector finds that look like this. It's not an error though. Have Fun, Bill
I'll go with odd looking The reverse looks regular, not odd like the front. Might not be an error, but it sure is different. Think I'll just put it away, maybe one of these days I'll find out what it is. Sure would have been nice to come across it when it was new. Thank You All for your thoughts.. ps. Hey bigd
Here's why I was asking - this is a 1749 2 reale that was struck through a couple pieces of string. The dies were rusty, and the mint master tried to wipe them off with a piece of cloth - a piece of string stuck to the cloth ending in this result - So when I saw all those squiggly lines on your quarter - it reminded me of this coin. I'm still undecided as to the cause for your coin
First time I seen anything that looks like it. But that is what it looks like. GDJMSP I'll try to get a better pic, front and back and send in. chocho
