Don’t worry, it was already holed when I bought it. It only cost $10. (This would likely be a $150+ coin problem-free.) So I had the thought of putting this on a necklace and knew one of my friends was running a booth at a local street fair and had some silver chains in his inventory. Bought one from him and made this:

So I got a necklace with something you don’t see every day on it. If you have any coin jewelry feel free to post here.

I do not shy away from Details coins, I'm into collecting mostly for the history and I'm always on a budget - so I have a fair number of holed or ex-jewelry pieces, including my 1861-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Those are unique in that they were produced by three sovereign authorities: the Union, then the State of Louisiana and then the Confederacy - all in the same year! How about that?!?!?! Love it! But my favorite holed coin (right now) is my 1422-61 King Henry VI of England, Gold Quarter Noble which is a rare coin and would have been entirely unaffordable to me except that someone holed it to put it on a chain or string and then broke out the hole - NGC body bagged it as too fragile to encapsulate and I swooped in on the auction for about $300. It is beat up, but man, the history lives in that one! I've also recently bid on a number of silver pieces (cups for example) that have old but really nice silver coins or coronation medals fused into them, haven't won any yet though. Here's my Seated Liberty Half and 1/4 Noble:

I picked this up years ago and figured it was a good deal being ex jewelry.

I just tell everyone it was pirate approved gold as in some pirate must have checked the gold coin with their teeth at some point in history.

    1725 who's around to say otherwise.:D
