I did not know of the 2019 and 2021 sales. It was submitted, obviously right after I sold it. Seller #3 maxed out the sale at over 3 grand. That seller really took a bath on the coin. It is interesting to note that my reluctance to go for the upgrade was a mistake. However, I honestly never expected a bump of 1.5 grades over the original.
It really is a nice looking coin. If it looks this good in a photo I can only imagine what it looks like in hand.
It has a pretty red glow. I posted it on the forum years ago. Somewhere, in all of the USB drives, I have pictures of it. I will search them, but there are thousands of Morgans on them.
I see your point. But to be fair, JA did tell me once that a coin can get a green sticker in one grade and again at the next grade up, without the lower grade getting gold. It's because the gold is reserved for almost 2 grades under graded in their opinion. So in the eyes of CAC this coin went from 65 to 66, they ignore the + designations.
Right? Affirming that coin as 66+? I liked that coin a lot, but a 66+? If I thought it was 66+, I would have sent it in myself, and would have kept it. I just don’t see it as more than 65 in hand. Sure, it is very pretty toning. 4+, maybe even low 5 of 6. But super gem?
I wouldn't call it that, but that's an in-hand call. and I defer to you. It sure looks to have some original smooth luster. I don't think that it has that white look (the flash) that most premium + coins do.
