1977 Lincoln cent

At first when I seen this cent, I thought the mark above Liberty was the mint mark d. But then I said that's impossible . The mint wouldn't goof up that bad. I know it's PMD and I'm sure there's all kinds of different looking PMD but I was just wondering what could have caused that?

It’s a plating blister that popped open. Zinc rot will start to show soon.

Yup.. Popped Plating blister

Not a rouge mint mark.

 

That's an O, not a D. The New Orleans Mint did it because they weren't giving them any more business, and I don't blame them.
