and makes me happier that I don't collect rainbow toning. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/655993/a_guide_to_artificially_toning_coins.html?cat=69
Yeah,, pics would be nice. I like the article and think it answers very definitively how some dealers probably manufacture thier toned products,,, I'd be the treated canvas bag or other media is the process of choice,, where it takes a bit longer (maybe 3-4 months), but produces a coin that has a very NT appearance. I have a roll or two of blast white halves,,, hummmm.... nah, I like blast white too.
I'm not sure if it should send a shiver down my spine. I think it's only natural for some collectors to experiment with artificial toning to help recognize what is natural toningand to understand the process. Now what does send a shiver is when unethical dealers try this and get a big payoff for what they call natural toning. Just perspective I guess.
There are tons of AT coins on Teletrade in PCGS Genuine holders with the 91 code for questionable color that would be junk silver if they weren't slabbed; mid 60's Canadian dollars, 10% Mexican pesos mostly. They go for STUPID prices.
