auction has about 24hr left.. 1st time i've ever bid (well) over 1k in a coin auction
(admitedly there are several coins involved) I pointed out to the woman a small "collection" for sale that has several coins in it I really want being sold by a known and trusted seller/dealer... she asked if I "would" be willing to sell off the other coins I wasn't after (this is a serious question as I almost never sell any coins) I have agreed to sell at least enough of them to cover my bid if I win (any extra coins being a bonus for me lol)... I really doubt it's gonna happen, but this is a BIG deal to me. I warn people all the time that coin collections are NOT a safe investment, the prices are far to unstable for that... But I really think i can turn a profit on this one if I land it so we will see soon lol... (oh and if i win my NGC submission might be delayed until next month (and considerably increased in size)

Ok sorry just yacking as it beats chewing on my fingernails for the next 24hrs lol I expect I will be outbid for the set but probably not until the last minute of the auction lol

    Good luck.
Never hurts to trade out or sell off part to offset costs for what you keep.

Great luck I’ve bid over $10k on a coin. Didn’t win. Underbid on the 2 I tried on. I know how exciting it can be.

I really do expect to be outbid and badly by some bidiots that will think the set far more then it is, but I'm well over "melt value" but far under list for a few of the coins, as most of the coins common dates and maybe $50 coins there is are 4-5 rarer coins not in the best of shape but should easily fetch 100-200 each.. last there are 3 very nice au/ms coins I plan to keep and 1 coin alone that should fetch 1k+ after grading. The seller could have done much much better breaking up the coins and selling individualy... as a set i expect/hope for it to sell for around the list price of the 3-4 prizes...

With all due respect Mr.W, if there is one coin alone that should go for $1k+, and all the other $100-$200 coins added to that, why would someone who bids higher than your $1k+ be considered a bidiot? Based on your details it sounds like the value is there to support it.

Nevertheless, good luck on your personal best auction bid.

Welcome to the club. It can be scary, but is an exciting ballpark in which to play. I remember when I bought my first 4 digit coin. It was exciting. For me, selling my toned Morgans was immensely exciting, as I could not believe the prices I got from them.

Do you have some pictures of the coins you are bidding on?

After the bidding ends maybe he'll post them. Posting now could generate more bidding competition, especially on a coin forum ;)

Wow, that was an impressive collection. I see a problem though. The 1893-S spot is filled with a 1896 Morgan.

the 93s was one of the 2 missing dates the other was the 95p (documented in the description) but that 93cc was a 1k+ coin without any doubt and was my prime target lol Ahh well I was hoping to get it under for 2k or under but as expected the last minutes kicked it beyond me :D
