Always liked these older soap bar slabs.

My most curious other than an oversized holder is this NGC holder. It holds a peidfort coin from Australia with a mintage of 14,000. It's about double the height of a normal NGC slab and the coin is surrounded in a recessed square area. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the inside of the holder looks like it's made of three separate pieces. The middle being a standard insert with two outer parts protecting the extra thickness of the coin. I find it interesting because it's the only one of this kind I've ever seen! I'm assuming more peifort or thick coins are housed in them, I've just never seen them.

That is an unusual coin to see slabbed, especially in that era.
And I don't think it was meant to be a sample slab, right?

I actually had it slabbed back in '89. I THOUGHT I seen doubling on the reverse, but when I got it back from the dealer that sent it in for me it had a note with it. "The doubling seen on the reverse is from die wear. " I keep it as my personal learning experience. :shame:

That's cool that you are the original owner of the slab! And I'm sure it was a good learning experience!

I always keep my NGC or PCGS slabs in the registry section of their respective websites, though I don't compete in the registry sets, it shows all the ones I have in inventory. The rest I log into my Numista account and each coin gets an index card which is filed in a box alphabetically for world coins and by denomination/year for US. It's a simple method, but I'm able to quickly see what I have.

I’m not organized. I totally gave up on registry stuff years ago. Usually stuff is in my safe. But actually there coins here there and everywhere in this house. There’s a few I’m not exactly sure where I put them. I know they’re here. I just have a habit of putting stuff in a drawer or in a box house isn’t a mess (too much) lol. But there’s tons of places to hide stuff and it’s a big house
