Ten and a half years in prison seems like a lot, but he'll be out and doing it again in less than half that time. Why, because it pays well if he can keep from getting caught. https://www.numismaticnews.net/worl...ns-importer-sentenced-to-10-5-years-in-prison
That story was from 2020, before the pandemic struck. I'd bet he's out now with the pandemic releases we saw.
I hope the guy rots in the joint. It's guys like him who've made our hobby impossible to trust the coins we want to buy, the sellers who offer them and the TPG holders that are supposedly authenticating them. In short, our hobby has become close to untenable with regard to believability.
It almost pays to be in jail. Free food, room and board paid for, exercise room and yard, no cost tv, free clothes, etc. People like this just don’t care.
It's believed there's a good reason this endeavor flourishes in the Numismatic industry, people have been punished more severely for selling some pot which is controlled by government, than uncontrolled counterfeit currency. Once coins are in fake holders, "bars" are plated, proof is difficult, and may only be exposed/corrected by "volunteers", supported by donations? It appears government has inadequate interest, and the penalties are less. There's also a reason I generally only purchase CAC verified relatively expensive coinage. JMHO
I've been waiting for someone of your skills/knowledge to post a current article of justice in the Numismatic industry. I haven't found any, so would appreciate your investigative skills to post updates, please!
