I just received an email offer about the buy one get one free gold coins that the Mint has offered. They are now extending their sale for three more days until the 20th.

Yesterday I received a letter signed by the Director of the mint, Mr. Gibson. In which the letter talks about nothing but improving customer experience, and they’ve listened to the complaints to make improvements. They’re trying to improve customer service delivery. They mention the enhancing and their stabilized the website.

They ask for patience due to unprecedented demand for circulated coins, staffing Shortages during the global pandemic and supply chain issues. They have significantly increased production of one of their most popular coins, the American Eagle one ounce silver dollar, which will lead to broader availability.
The letter also states that one of their top priorities is customer satisfaction.

They say they have significantly strengthened and expanded enrollment programs and reduced call center wait times. They also reduce the average number of days for your order to be fulfilled.

it also says they know it’s disappointing that some popular products are not available this year but they are committed to returning to full production going forward. And in 1923 they’re happy to announce the relaunch of the Morgan and peace dollar program.

The 2022 summer collectors guide included a special promotion as an expression of appreciation to valued customers. The letter closes with a pledge to do everything possible to meet your expectations.

Need I say more but that was the latter in its entirety.

Actually, the new mint director is a woman, Ventris Gibson. I'm sure she's sincere about wanting to improve things but only time will tell if it gets better.

The disclosure, or hitting me? I detect a bit of Henny Youngman punchline in the reply.....

Sometimes one needs to watch what the government sends you.... I was I guess around 18....and they sent me an invitation as they wanted to send me on a trip to South East Asia....
Being Irish and reading the menus I realized that they didn't serve alot of Corned beef , potatoes, and cabage.. so I declined...until they had a meal plan that fit my dietary needs.;)

The old adages "nothing is free" "wolf in sheep's clothing" and "beware of Greeks bearing gifts" rapidly come to mind. I don't fault anyone for trying to make a profit (including the Mint) but this intrigued me so I did some digging.

March 1017 gold was $1247/oz and the Gold Liberty one ounce dollar was offered at $1640 for just over a 31% mark-up. The one tenth ounce in 2018 sold for $215 and today sells for $335.

Today gold closed at $1769 and on the Mints website the same Gold Liberty one ounce dollar is offered $2715 (or a 53% mark-up) Since 3/2017 gold has appreciated about 42%. So when these coins were minted five and a half years ago at the then cost of gold I can see readily how the mint can offer the one tenth ounce coin and refer to is as 'for free'. They will still make a nice profit, just not as large as at normal prices. And if it works they clear the shelves of all this old gold thats just been languishing around appreciating. Hmmm...o_O:rolleyes:

Yes, I got a letter too.

They still couldn't explain why they had to overcharge for the 2021 Proof set which had three less silver quarters in it. They charged the same amount for the 2022 silver Proof set which had three more silver quarters it.

I "bought" the Medal of Honor coins/medals in February of this year. I has been "processing since February. Today, I received 2 emails from the Mint, telling me that my purchasing had been cancelled and to call them. What can they say except I signed on too early?
