It appears to be uncirculated. A choice example, although some may find the splotchy tarnish to be unattractive. Personally, I think it is a beautiful coin and worth a serious offer.
That's good news. I thought it was uncirculated too, but usually when I think that people tell me it's xf-40-au50.
Well Zane The dark toning or color or whatever you call that would take it down for me...I would only say AU50 at the most...has it been cleaned?...on the back around the edge it is darker than the middle.... Speedy
I'm pretty sure it hasn't been cleaned, but I can't be entirely sure. The dark spots seem to be legitimate toning, and not something on the surface.
Ok....that would be great...I have seen toned coins that way and was hoping that this was one. Speedy
I don't particularly care for the color of the toning, it looks almost like tar but I thouroughly checked it, and I'm pretty sure it is toning
AU50 would probably be a safe listing. The detail in the leaves, both obverse and reverse, doesn't quite say MS to me.
Yes I agree about AU50 or there abouts. Nice coin. Is the reverse tilted or is that the way you took the photo? Tilted reverses are very common with the Merc Dimes but I don't have enough of the Liberty Head, Barber, Dimes to see if that is common with them. Probably will make a difference in the price you know. Some collectors want these as error coins like myself. Other collectors consider this slanted reverse as a flaw in a great coin.
