As par of an experiment, I have decided to cross grade between
Brand x TPG and PCGS normally i would not do this but do to the lack
Of high grade quality out there right now for these two notes i will
Proceed, For you "shade tree"graders i would appreciate your input
On grade, I will re-thread with the results!

I have purposely blocked out the current TPG label until the results
    Come back !

Yea I would be interested to se how it turns out for you.
I wish I could guess at a grade but without seeing the registration of the plate print it would be impossible.

Who prints these MPC's? I have a friend who's son is in the marines. He is statoned in the middle east right now. Would they being using these still today?

I have the 10¢ version (Sub obv/astronaut rev) that my college roommate gave me when he got back from 'Nam. I am thinking about getting it framed as a gift to him. Are these rare/valuable?

The Series 681 is a fairly common set on the fractional end, Though
High grades can be tuff 67-68, But you can get nice raw unc. for
$15-$25, The upper end Certified notes would run you between $85
    And $95

The $1 note is a little more difficult, There are only 5 68,s in PCGS
Inventories and i havent seen one for several years!

The $5,$10,$20 are very difficult in high grades and very expensive
Here are some examples from my collection, If you have any more
Questions please feel free to PM me! :)

    Hi Brian,

    Here's a quicky on MPC's:

Thirteen series of MPC were issued between 1946 and 1973, with varied designs often compared to Monopoly money due to their colors. After the Vietnam War MPC was never again issued, and the concept lay dormant until the late '90s when it was replaced by a Stored Value Card system, presently used by U.S. armed forces in Iraq.

This kind of reminds me of the disney dollars I see on ebay.
Are they valuable because they kinda look like funny money.

On the other hand I have about 200 of them in a box I am going to be listing on ebay. I thought they were all fake so I was going to throw them out. I dont see any treasurey seals on them either.
What can you tell me about these?

mpcusa, I'm curious as to what the experiment is, and what your decisions will be based on results. You're asking folks to take a guess as to the correct grade for the notes. Then you're going to get a grade from "brand x tpg" (who is that, some sort of generic tpg provider?), and one from PCGS. Let's say the two TPG's give you the same grade, and it's different from the online guesses. What will you do? Let's say the two TPG's give different results, will you chose as "correct" the TPG that gave a grade closer to the one from the online guesses?

This is costing you some money, I'm just curious what you're going to do with the results.

The one you have listed is a Series 661 $10 and very valuable!!! the
One you got there looks outstanding!! If you look at my avatar theats
Mine in 67PPQ with an estimated value of about $2,200 or more
If you want to send me some scans i may be interested in purchase
Of some of your MPC :)

    Hi Dave,

Yes it is a generic TPG, That tends to grade on the high side, Thats why
Iam sending them to PCGS, And the fact is if you look at them they do
Look outstanding with great centering, So iam hoping for the same or
One grade less, I got a great deal on them to boot!!

As far as the closer grade, I will accept PCGS grade they are way more
Respected!! Heck the generic TPG doesnt even have a registry!!

I'm with Dave on this. Costly game and for what? Now if your going with the TPG that "tends to grade on the high side" that I think you are going with (not PMG)wouldn't you want to go with lower grade stuff to see what happens? Besides, you only get significantly higher grades from "that other TPG" if your in the inner circle and for a cut of the final proceeds!

The whole point of this is to get these notes in to a reputable holder
Plus iam building out several PCGS registry set,s, As you can see the
Notes look excellent!! So iam hoping for good things!

In addition its hard to find good notes, There just not available!!
So by using the generic TPG for purchases, If they have what i
Need, I can save a ton of money, Think of it like a pre screening
    Process!! :)

I think PCGS is very loose with there grading standards to be honest. I find PMG to be so much more conservative. Not to say that either one is not reputable. This has been my observation. I have seen far to many overgraded notes in PCGS holders for me to spend my money with them.

TPG's are definetely personal preference and I for one without question would buy anything in a PMG epq sight unseen. I cannot say the same about PCGS. Especially since PCGS currency is no longer a part of the coin grading PCGS.

    Just my .02

PCGS Currency is not part of the PCGS Coin?
When and why did that happen?
