Since I have very few Phoenician coins, I had to buy this at the ANA show last Thursday. Only two kings of Arwad are known during the Persian period: Maharbaal, who was king in 480 BC (Herodotus 8, 98) and Gerashtart, king at the end of the Persian period (Arrian 2, 20). About the reign of Gerashtart the only sources available are the coins which he issued and a few passages referring to him in ancient sources.
