Someone like that I just don't do business with.

In my mind, if overcharging s/h has to cost-justify the sale in the seller's mind, than the seller needs to rethink his selling strategies.

When a seller is charging excessive shipping fees to avoid paying ebay fees on the final value, they are being greedy in my opinion, by just trying to save themselves money. If those sellers chose to pass on the savings to buyers, as well, I'm sure people wouldn't mind as much. But at the moment, it's just a win for the sellers trying to avoid fees. I'm a seller on ebay, and I always keep shipping reasonable.

OK ONE MORE TIME! SHIPPING FROM CANADA TO USA is 12.99 plus I bet this individual thinks this coin has some value. Hence the signature required. at 12.99

In the rotated die census, it has the 1860 with 95 degree CW rotation with 13-30 reported. If your a collector of die rotations the shipping probably wouldn't bother you so much, especially if thats a pointed bust. Can't tell for sure...

This seller has numerous coins listed. Every single other coin has shipping for $3. The other coins are bigger and heavier than a small cent. That is what I have a problem with.

There are no other auctions now? In his description he/she clearly states that "REGISTERED MAIL ONLY FOR THIS AUCTION" This seller probably feels uncomfortable using regular USPS for a coin they feel has value. Please do not jump on a seller with no basis. If you used this energy against the Chinese counterfeits it would be time well spent.

well i've paid similar amounts and more for delivery of a small coin. Different shippings are worth different money, so there is no guaranty that he will make a penny of it.
but anyways even if he did, for me a $1 coin with $29 shipping tag and a $30 coin with "free" shipping mean absolutely the same thing. I am not an Ebay stockholder to get worked up over Ebay losing a nickel from one of them sales. And even if I was, they do not pay dividents anyway so whats a point getting your stroke or heart attack half an hour earlier.

He is shipping from Canada. Being that he's in Windsor, Ontario, I would not be surprised if he's actually shipping US purchases from Detroit in the US but that's just speculation on my part.
