I’m slowly going through another box of coins that I haven’t opened in over 12 years. I was busy when I bought and making way to much money so I bought this coin for $50.00. It has .1205 ounces of gold. It’s a 5 Peso coin dated 1920 from Mexico.
Just found a Mexican 10 Peso coin. Has almost a quarter of an ounce of gold. Should be .2411 actually. It’s dated 1906. Makes me wonder where I got some of the things I’ve found. I paid $70.00 for this one. You’d certainly pay more today for both of them.
Just found these in another envelope. Two 1915 gold coins and I’m not sure where they came from. They were in a sealed envelope and the invoice was also inside. It’s dated 10-7-98, almost 24 years ago. If I died today my wife would hate going through all this but she would love the results. Not even sure how much gold is on each of these.
This also came out of the envelope, a third gold coin dated 1896. I paid $111.00 for all three 24 years ago. That’s $37.00 each by my math.
Those are Austrian 10 Corona each are 3.3875g at .900 fine with an AGW of 0.098oz. I have two of those sitting on my desk an 1896 and a 1905. lol I really like the look of them.
Okay, I don't have too much time to reply here. I know I have a few old boxes out in the garage that I'm going to dig out and open. Maybe I've got some gold coins also I don't remember about. Seriously I'm very happy for you, To me this would be like a great christmas in August.
Dang, I'm jealous. When I open old boxes I find parts to cars I haven't owned in 20 years and mouse poop.
Ha!...Way to go Collecting Nut... And I thought I was doing great when I discovered an old forgotten Dansco Silver eagles book with 6 different holes filled. Some find gold & others are lucky to find silver. J.T.
I did a better calculation. 0.2411oz of pure gold is melt $432. There seems to be a decent numismatic premium for Mexican gold coins. $500+ is what I see on the big vendors; I feel like realistically sub $500 prices are expected. assuming you bought this in 1998 like the Austrian, then inflated $70 is $124 in 2022. seems like you’ve made your investment back approximately four-fold.
The only way I am gonna find any gold coins I forgot that I bought is open up someone elses box's. You need a new step brother?
