o how is everyone doing? I'm back in OKC from the show and ready for "Show and Tell". I only bought 1 coin from the bourse (actually it was at dinner, not the floor) but I managed to snag a couple of nice coins at the Sheridan Downey mail bid auction. Tuesday night at the Bust Half Nut Club dinner...(By the way, guys, thanks for letting me attend.) From the auction... Anyway, let's see what you got.
108a...same reverse die as 109, but different obverse. Main PUP is that the 1 in the date is missing most (later all) of its lower left serif on the 108 while nearly all 109s show a die crack at the left side of the 0 in the date. Here is the obverse of the 109.
Come on, folks. I know I'm not the only person who found a new play-pretty at the show. Bring 'em on.
I bought a bunch of world crowns and a PCGS MS66 1987d Washington quarter for $10 because…why not? I’ll gets some pics later today.
Posted these on the PCGS forum as well. Bought this before I even got to my table Also bought this -- my only silver dollar purchase for the show Then I got a nice door prize from Stack's/Bowers from their reception Thursday. And got these, too. Slipped a bit in the grading contest. Tied for 9th. I congratulated the young woman picking up her 6th place prize when I was there (cf., threads referring to youth and women in the hobby).
You’re only 70 according to your profile snd that’s still young in my book. I’m only 2 years behind you so we’ll see.
Wife and I attended. Masked whenever in the bourse. Unfortunately, felt we had to skip some group dinners for safety. Stayed at Rose Hotel. Little farther walk, about 20 minutes, than the hotels across the street from the convention center. But a little cheaper and very nice hotel. Their restaurant, which isn’t well known, served the best food we had on the trip. Looked at a lot of coins but didn’t buy anything … maybe a first for me. Had great luck selling two expensive coins, better prices than I expected. Also, consigned 16 coins to Great Collections Looked at Heritage and Stack’s Bowers auction coins, which for some reason, were in Lowes Hotel rather than in the convention center. Some great coins. So far have struck-out in bidding, but auctions aren’t over yet. Cal
